Rajouri : Congress Blocks Jammu–Poonch Road, Protests Against Minister Sunil Sharma Over Pir Panjal Remarks

The Congress party on Tuesday staged a strong protest against BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma over his controversial remarks related to the Pir Panjal region made in the Assembly.
Congress workers blocked the Jammu–Poonch road and raised slogans against the BJP and Sunil Sharma in Rajouri.
The protest march started from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park, Rajouri, and proceeded towards the main road, where demonstrators blocked National Highway-144B, leading to traffic disruption.
A heavy police force was deployed at the spot to maintain law and order.
Addressing the protesters, Congress District President Ashok Sharma, Advocate Dalfi Kumar, and youth leader Amit Syal said that the Pir Panjal region has made immense sacrifices for the nation. They stated that the people of the region have bravely faced militants and enemies and laid down their lives to protect the borders. They strongly condemned the language used by the LoP in the Assembly and demanded an unconditional apology from Sunil Sharma.
The Congress leaders accused the BJP of trying to divide people and spread hatred. They said that Sunil Sharma’s remarks have deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Pir Panjal and insulted the sacrifices made by the region.
